How we verify links
Every download button on PlanetSofts goes to an official source. Here is what that means and how we keep it true.
What counts as an official link
A link is official when it points to a page controlled by the software's developer or publisher, or to the app's own listing in an official store: the Microsoft Store for Windows, Google Play for Android, and Apple's App Store for iPhone and iPad. For open-source projects we link to the project's own download page. We do not link to mirrors, file-hosting sites, third-party APK sites or download managers.
How a listing is checked
- We confirm that the developer named on the store listing or website matches the app we are describing.
- We open each download link and make sure it reaches the right product, not a similarly named app.
- Version numbers, release dates and requirements are taken from the official store listing, the developer's release notes or Microsoft's public winget package manifests.
- Pages that block automated checks are opened by an editor in a normal browser.
Ongoing checks
Links are re-tested every week. The date of the most recent check is shown in the download box and the Link verification panel on every app page. If a link stops working or starts pointing somewhere else, we fix it or remove it.
Help us keep it accurate
If a download link is broken or leads somewhere unexpected, use the Report a broken link button on the app's page or contact the editors. Reports are reviewed before anything else.
