Proton Pass
FreeOpen-source, end-to-end encrypted password manager from Proton with built-in email aliases and a free plan.
About Proton Pass
Proton Pass is a password manager from Proton, the company behind Proton Mail and Proton VPN. It stores logins, notes, cards and passkeys using end-to-end encryption and has apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, along with browser extensions.
A free plan covers unlimited logins and devices. Paid plans add features such as built-in two-factor authentication codes, more email aliases, vault sharing and dark web monitoring. The built-in hide-my-email aliases let you sign up for services without giving out your real address. The apps are open source and published under the GPL-3.0 licence.
Proton Pass suits people who already use Proton services or want an open-source password manager with a modern interface. It is newer than long-established tools such as Bitwarden or 1Password, so some advanced features are still being added. An account is required, and as with any zero-knowledge service, forgetting your credentials without a recovery method can lock you out.
Set up account recovery right away. A good choice if you already use Proton Mail or Proton VPN.
