Lyft
FreeA ride-hailing app that offers rides, bikes and scooters in supported cities, mainly in the United States and Canada.
About Lyft
Lyft is a ride-hailing app. You request a car, see the estimated price and arrival time, follow the driver on a map and pay in the app. The listing says it offers multiple ways to get around, from airport trips to daily commutes and errands.
Depending on the city, the app also covers bikes and scooters and lets you schedule rides in advance. Rider safety features include trip sharing and in-app support. Lyft operates in a more limited set of regions than some competitors, mainly in North America.
It suits people who want an alternative to other ride-hailing services in supported cities. The app is free to download, and you pay per ride. Optional subscription plans exist in some markets. An account with a phone number and payment method is required. Prices can vary with demand, so confirm the quote before you request. Check the pickup location, driver details and licence plate in the app each time, and use the in-app safety features when needed.
Availability is narrower than other ride apps, so check that Lyft operates where you are travelling.
