About Coursera
Coursera is an online learning platform that partners with universities and companies to offer courses, professional certificates and degrees. The Google Play listing says it offers more than 8,000 courses, hands-on projects, certificate programs and degrees.
The mobile app lets you watch lecture videos, complete quizzes and track progress while on the move, with downloads for offline viewing on supported courses. Topics cover technology, business, data, health and many other fields, and many courses can be audited or started with free access to part of the material.
The app is free to download, and the Google Play listing shows in-app purchases. Certificates, graded assignments and full degrees usually require payment or a subscription, so it suits career changers and professionals who want recognised credentials. It also works for curious learners who want to browse. Pricing varies by course and program, so check the details on each course page before committing, and take note of any financial aid options that may be offered.
Look for the audit option before paying if you only want to learn. Check each course's price and subscription terms.
